The first shot in the trailer is a tracking medium shot if two characters running. We can see from the background that these are important people to the plot as they have an escort of cars. This shot also tells us that Gerard Butler is in the film. This is a pull factor to the film as it has popular actors in it. This shot will also tell people that watched the first in the series, 'Olympus has fallen' that the same characters and actors are in the film. This could also serve as a pull factor for those that enjoyed the first film as the are getting the same again. After this there is a montage of quick shots that all build to show that it is set in London finalizing with a unmistakable shot of Buckingham palace with the iconic guards Marching in front. The film then loudly announces that is is an action film as a car, bridge and a building are blown up in sequence. Next the main characters are shown in a car chase with guns. A medium shot then destroys any doubt of the genre as Gerard butler is shown laying flat out the side of a car shooting the tires of the pursuer. This is only possible in action films without being killed.
The trailer then cuts to a new setting were the actor Morgan Freeman is revealed to be returning to the film series. Like with Gerard Butler this is a big pull factor as he is a popular and well accomplished actor. A montage of action shots is then shown. This is to appeal to the teenage boy group as this group live to see guns and explosions. We are then shown two close ups of people crying. This indicates that something bad happens during the film. The pace of the cuts increases as the trailer draws near the end and more explosions are shown. This causes a serge of adrenaline in the audience so when the title pops up at the end the remember the name of the film an that the want to se it, even if they don't remember anything else about the film. In the trailer we learn the basic out line of the plot, the American president is in London, a terror attack happens and he gets captured. It is then up to Gerard Butler to rescue him.
